Naturally Occurring Compounds With Larvicidal Activity Against Malaria Mosquitoes

چکیده
Female Anopheles mosquitoes transmit Plasmodium parasites that cause human malaria. Currently, vector control is the most widely deployed approach to reduce mosquito population and hence disease transmission. This relies on use of insecticide-based interventions including Long-lasting Insecticide-treated Nets (LLINs) Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) where scale-up has contributed a dramatic decline in malaria deaths morbidity over past decade. Challenges their effective include emergence spread insecticide resistance by populations coupled with inability curb outdoor Under these situations, larvicides through larval source management (LSM) can complement existing measures. The need minimize environmental impact effect non-target organisms spurred interest development eco-friendly natural origin. Here, we review literature published last five years highlight compounds origin found exhibit larvicidal activity against mosquitoes. Specifically, different classes discussed organisms. Additionally, provide suggestions for future research into chemical synthesis improve bioactivity known compounds.

Larvicidal Activity of Bacillus laterosporus Against Mosquitoes
In present study Bacillus laterosporus isolated from a commercial formulation showed larvicidal activity against second instar larvae of Aedies aegypti, Anophles stephense and Culex qunquefasciatus. The % mortality without heat treatment was 37.34 against Anophles and 18.67 against Culex. The toxin was heat stable and its toxicity increased with inoculum size and incubation time. The study reve...
متن کاملLarvicidal and IGR activity of extract of Tanzanian plants against malaria vector mosquitoes.
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES This paper reports the larvicidal activity of seventeen Tanzanian plant species against the malaria vector, Anopheles gambiae s.s. Giles larvae. Some of the plants are used traditionally as sources of insecticidal materials. METHODS The crude extracts from the leaves, stem and root barks of the investigated plants were obtained by solvent extraction and then bio-assaye...

Background and objectives: Malaria is a remarkable cause of death in the world. Several ways are used by researchers to control or to decrease the detrimental effects of the disease, in which natural insecticides with less malaria vectors resistance and lower environmental damages are considered in last decades. The objective of this study was to assess the larvicidal activity of the whole flowe...
متن کاملAntibacterial Activity of Naturally Occurring Compounds from Selected Plants
Man is in constant contact with a large number of different bacteria which temporarily or permanently inhibit his body creating temporary or permanent community. Relations which are thus established are various and very complex, from those positive to those whose consequences for man are extremely negative. Very often, both on and in man’s body, bacteria which have the ability to cause an infec...

OBJECTIVE To determine the larvicidal efficacy of different solvent leaf extract of Ervatamia coronaria and Caesalpinia pulcherrima against Anopheles subpictus and Culex tritaeniorhynchus. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty five early third instar larvae of Anopheles subpictus and Culex tritaeniorhynchus were exposed to various concentrations and were assayed in the laboratory. The larval mortality...
